Search the Levan Court Docket

Docket work for Levan runs through Juab County offices now. Start there. The town's own court closed, so current lower-level cases from Levan sit with the Juab County Justice Court, unless your citation or notice points somewhere else. To run a Levan court docket search, pair the party or case details with the right county location, since records may live under either the old town court name or the county. Higher-level criminal and civil cases go to the general trial court, and some restricted case types stay out of the public index.

Levan Justice Court Closed in 2021

Levan Justice Court was dissolved effective April 1, 2021. The Utah Judicial Council packet explains why. Levan had no judge, so the Council approved ending the court and moving its cases to Juab County Justice Court. That date divides any Levan docket search in two. A modern Levan citation should never be routed to a town portal or old local payment path, since neither exists.

Current answer: Search Juab County Justice Court for a lower-court Levan matter unless the actual citation or court notice identifies another authorized location.

Old annual reports, archived pages, and paper forms still say "Levan Justice Court." They describe the former venue only. Seeing the name there does not mean the town court still takes filings, holds hearings, or keeps a current online calendar.

Levan Municipal Court Basics

There is no active Levan municipal Justice Court bench to describe. Before it closed, the town court handled the limited case types a Utah Justice Court covers within its territory. Traffic plus ordinance work filled much of its docket. The surviving court record now runs through Juab County Justice Court staff. It also runs through the statewide case system. That distinction matters when you need a clerk. Levan city government keeps town ordinances, meeting minutes, and other municipal records. But it cannot certify a transferred Utah court case history. For a docket, judgment, order, or certified court filing, go to the successor court clerk. Never send a court-record fee to an address pulled from an old Levan form.

Levan Docket Before Dissolution

The closure packet counted roughly sixty Levan cases in the prior year. About forty of them were traffic matters. Statewide Justice Court statistics for FY2020 add detail. The Levan entry shows 68 filings and 65 dispositions. Of those filings, 59 were traffic-related and nine were misdemeanor-level cases. Treat these as historic figures, not a live Levan caseload.

The small docket helps explain why the transfer happened, but it proves nothing about a court operating in Levan today. The record trail moved, and a public search should follow it.

Court Dates and Settings in Levan

The court posts no Levan-specific calendar. Instead, search the transferred case in XChange. Then check the Utah Courts two-week calendar for Juab County Justice Court. For older settings and changes, the case history works better. The calendar simply shows activity scheduled during its rolling window.

When Old Levan Papers Surface

An old ticket, receipt, judgment, or hearing notice may still name Levan Justice Court. Keep the original paper. Its case number, citation number, party name, and rough date all work in a Juab County Justice Court search. Open every plausible result. Match the case type and filing date before you rely on the entry.

  1. Do not call an inactive number printed on an old Levan form.
  2. Search XChange with Juab County Justice Court as the current location.
  3. Call 435-623-3440 and state that the matter came from former Levan Justice Court.
  4. Ask whether the file converted into CORIS, remains in a paper file, or moved to an archive.
  5. Submit a written record request when a certified order or disposition is needed.

Older Justice Court data can be thin because each court made its own conversion choices. A missing online image does not settle whether the clerk holds the record.

Traffic Tickets in Levan

A current lower-level traffic matter from Levan generally routes to Juab County Justice Court. Start with the issuing court printed on the citation. Search by citation number plus the Juab location. Or use the party name, case type, and date when the ticket is not at hand. The public case history may list the charge, plea, hearings, disposition, and accounting entries. Paying and contesting create different docket events. Payment can waive a hearing and record a conviction. A not-guilty plea leads to a pretrial conference or trial setting. The Juab County traffic ticket resource covers the county process, current alternatives, and copy fees. Note that Juab County Justice Court says it does not take phone payment, despite separate county wording mentioning payment by phone. So confirm the live method with the clerk.

Levan Docket Search Fields

When tracing a Levan docket after dissolution, location is the field that matters most. XChange can return results from many Utah courts. A number alone may not point to one unique case. Narrow your terms before pressing Search. Official XChange help says each search can be billable. No more than 500 results may come back.

Where Levan Cases Go

Case type decides the route for a Levan matter. Traffic tickets, infractions, class B or C misdemeanors, county-precinct ordinance matters, and small claims all land in Juab County Justice Court, unless another authorized court is named. Felonies, class A misdemeanors, probate, and general civil cases belong to the Utah District Court, Fourth Judicial District, sitting in Juab County. Juvenile matters are different. They go through the Fourth District Juvenile Court office. Those files stay out of XChange because they are not public.

Appeals work differently. A Justice Court appeal is filed in the Justice Court itself. It then proceeds to District Court as a trial de novo where Utah law provides. That phrase means the District Court hears the whole matter anew. So check the Justice Court docket history first. Then look for a separate District Court case number covering the same dispute.

Levan Small Claims After Closure

No new Levan-branded portal took over small claims. Utah Courts lists Juab County Justice Court as a filing location when no city or town court covers the matter. Check territorial jurisdiction first. A Levan resident can then search the county Justice Court case history for the docket. Anything outside small claims, meaning general civil cases, belongs in District Court.

Levan Docket in Local Context

Levan is small. The 2020 Census counted 862 residents. That put the town third among Juab County's five incorporated places. That size explains why the former court handled a modest volume of cases. It says nothing about the value of any single record or where a new filing belongs. Court administration now sits at a county access point in Nephi. You will find Juab County Justice Court at 160 N Main Street, Nephi, Utah 84648. Published hours run Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call ahead if you want an older transferred Levan file.

Levan Court Record Access Rules

Utah court-record rules govern public Levan dockets. You can inspect public court records through XChange or a free courthouse terminal. Need something not online, an older file, or a certified copy? Submit the statewide Request for a Court Record to the proper clerk. The usual response comes within ten business days. The clerk may also ask for more details. Or the clerk may state that extra time is required.

Utah access rules:

Rule 4-202.02 classifies court records as public or within several non-public classes.

Rule 4-202.03 identifies who may access non-public records.

Rule 4-202.04 governs written requests and review of a denial.

Sealed, expunged, juvenile, adoption, and other private or protected matters never show up like ordinary public cases. A missing Levan result has other causes too. The location may be wrong, the case may be new, or older data may not have converted. Ask the successor clerk before assuming no record exists.

Levan Record Routing Check

Start every Levan search with the source paper. A Levan address does not create a Levan court. An old Levan court label does not revive the closed venue. Match the Levan case number, filing year, and case type to the successor location. If the result differs, ask the county clerk to trace the Levan transfer. Do not choose a match by name alone. Current Levan citations should name the court now responsible. Older ones may preserve the former label. Both kinds of Levan records can concern the same town. They still require different location filters in a docket search. Keeping the Levan date and court name together prevents a historic Levan entry from being mistaken for a live venue. A certified Levan disposition must come from the court that holds the file. Levan town staff cannot certify the transferred court record. A public Levan search printout is not a certified record. Give the clerk every Levan identifier available. Say whether the request concerns a pre-closure Levan case or a later county case tied to Levan.

Match the Levan Case

A sound Levan match links three things to the current clerk: the Levan paper, the Levan filing date, and the Levan case type. This final Levan check matters most when an old Levan court name appears beside a new county location. Still unsure? Hand the Levan identifiers to Juab County Justice Court. Ask staff to confirm the successor record.
